2018 Founder's Day Celebration

On Saturday, December 8, 2018, Brothers of the Dayton area gathered for the annual Founder's Day celebration. Theta Lambda served as the primary host and celebrated with local chapters representing the cities of Springfield and Wilberforce, Ohio, as well as Wilberforce University, Central State University, Wright State University, and the University of Dayton.

The event was held on the campus of the University of Dayton in the historic Torch Lounge. Entitled "Bridging the Gap Between Faith and Fraternity", the celebration brought together men of Alpha Phi Alpha and members of the Miami Valley Faith community to celebrate 112 years of the Fraternity in action.

The program opened with a welcome from the District Director of Ohio, Brother Jeffrey Elmore. A moving tribute to the Founders of the Fraternity, also known as the Jewels, was provided from the Brothers of the University of Dayton and Wright State University. The tribute was followed by a musical selection from Brothers Jared Davis & Aaron Grant. Theta Lambda's own Brother Jeffery Brown, Pastor of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, delivered the Keynote Address. The chairman of the celebration, Brother Norman Bradfield, offered closing remarks before Brothers ended the program with the singing of the Fraternity Hymn and reciting of the Fraternity Prayer.

Theta Lambda and the surrounding chapters in the Dayton region would like to thank everyone who celebrated 112 years of Alpha Phi Alpha with us. We look forward to celebrating the next 112 years and many more with the Miami Valley community!
