Brother Gerald Parker Secures Historic Seat

On Tuesday, November 6th, our own Brother Gerald Parker secured the seat as Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge. With his election victory, Parker becomes Montgomery County Common Pleas Court General Division’s first African-American male.

When asked about his historic accomplishment, Parker responded, "I’m just thankful that the people of Montgomery County saw me as who I was and how I can help the community and knew that our court needed to be diverse and get younger."

Parker has served Montgomery County his entire legal career. Beginning as a Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney then joining the litigation team of Dyer, Garofalo, Mann and Schultz where he specialized in Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation. He currently serves as Magistrate for the Montgomery County Juvenile Court having been appointed by the late Judge Nick Kuntz and Judge Anthony Capizzi.

Magistrate Parker is the creator of an after-school “CrossFit” program for at-risk youth where court-involved juveniles are brought to Centerville CrossFit for intense workouts, learning life skills while building self-esteem, discipline and character. He has raised thousands of dollars for Building Bridges, Incorporated, a private partner with the Juvenile Court and frequently speaks to students at various schools in the Miami Valley.

Magistrate Parker is an active member of Southbrook Christian Church. He loves spending time with his wife, Janna, a Miami County Prosecutor, and their two daughters, Zoe (4) and Maya (2).
